Optimising Techniques
Text: For the font I used on my website it was just a random font that Adobe Dreamweaver had already on it. when choosing a font I just made sure that it was sans serif so it was bold enough for people to easily read on my website. on pages like my 'about me' page I increased the sizing of the font so that it filled up more of the page and was clearer for readers to see.

File Compression: The size of the website determines how fast the website will load. originally when I first put all my photos onto the website the page would often crash but after individually changing the resolution and setting each image to a low medium for sizing, this made my website run a lot quicker, making it more user friendly.
Lossy Compression: To make my images a small file type making them easier to upload onto my website I made them all JPEG's. I only did a low compression so the photos were still high quality as that is one of the main things with my website as it is for my photography portfolio, you've got to be able to see the images.
CSS Files: The CSS code that I have added onto my website covers all the visual content on my pages, e.g. colours, sizes, fonts and anything else. All the css code is on a file that is linked to all my pages so the code covers all the pages and I don't have to redo it.
Images: I added Metadata to all my images I added onto my pages, this means they have my copyright on them and will protect me if someone steals the images off my website for their own use as they will always be able to link back to me.
Cleaner Database: With having nine pages of photos and then nearly a photo on every page of my website, I had a lot of images - probably 50 - 100 photos were added onto my website. I did have a lot of images left over that I decided not to add onto my website, rather they were portrait and would look weird next to all the landscape photos so I deleted them all to clear up some space. not adding random photos helped speed up my website, as the more photos I have on there the slower it gets.
