LO3: Demonstrate optimisation techniques across the interactive media product

Optimising Techniques

Text: For the font I used on my website it was just a random font that Adobe Dreamweaver had already on it. when choosing a font I just made sure that it was sans serif so it was bold enough for people to easily read on my website. on pages like my 'about me' page I increased the sizing of the font so that it filled up more of the page and was clearer for readers to see.

File Compression: The size of the website determines how fast the website will load. originally when I first put all my photos onto the website the page would often crash but after individually changing the resolution and setting each image to a low medium for sizing, this made my website run a lot quicker, making it more user friendly.

Lossy Compression: To make my images a small file type making them easier to upload onto my website I made them all JPEG's. I only did a low compression so the photos were still high quality as that is one of the main things with my website as it is for my photography portfolio, you've got to be able to see the images.

CSS Files: The CSS code that I have added onto my website covers all the visual content on my pages, e.g. colours, sizes, fonts and anything else. All the css code is on a file that is linked to all my pages so the code covers all the pages and I don't have to redo it.

Images: I added Metadata to all my images I added onto my pages, this means they have my copyright on them and will protect me if someone steals the images off my website for their own use as they will always be able to link back to me.

Cleaner Database: With having nine pages of photos and then nearly a photo on every page of my website, I had a lot of images - probably 50 - 100 photos were added onto my website. I did have a lot of images left over that I decided not to add onto my website, rather they were portrait and would look weird next to all the landscape photos so I deleted them all to clear up some space. not adding random photos helped speed up my website, as the more photos I have on there the slower it gets.

LO3: Create a graphical user interface combining media elements with user interactivity

LO3: Create the planned interactive product

LO2: Justify the planned interactivity and range of media content to meet a client brief

Interactive Images and Videos:

For the website I made, their is a lot of interactive images on it, with making images interactive it makes things easier for the user. One of the main interactive images I have is on my Portfolio page with the three images that when you click on them they take you three different pages that is where my actual images are. I didn't add any videos onto my website as I didn't think it was necessary.

Connecting To My Audience:

The only way I made it so my audience could interact with me and stay connected to me, was though my contact me where I added my photography Instagram. This way they can message me, see what I'm up too, look at my recent photoshoots. I didn't add a link I just wrote it out, so they will have to manually put it into their phone, but if they really want to stay connected to me then they will.

Easy to Navigate

For my website I tried to make it as easy to navigate as possible, in my completed website i had two navigation bars. One of the navigation bars is on all the pages through out my website, that sends people to other places on my website depending on what they press on - which speeds up the process for what they are looking for. The second navigation bar is on my portfolio pages where when the user has clicked on a cities images they could just click on the navigation bar to then select a different city easily. with making my website as easy to navigate as possible it means people will stay and look though my work for longer.

Accessibility

Something that I made sure to make possible, was for people that use the screen readers - where the page will read out what is written on the website. I did this by adding the text on Adobe Dreamweaver instead of doing what i was doing with the images, where i put them into Adobe Photoshop and then added them onto Adobe Dreamweaver as a different set images - like i was originally going to do.

LO2:Explain the legal and ethical issues relating to product ideas

Legal
For legal issues concerning I had to make sure all the photos I add onto each page, I have put copyright on in Adobe Photoshop. this is to make sure if someone does use one of my images it can be stolen and passed off as theirs as it will have my copyright on it, this protects all the images I upload. I need to make sure that if one of the photos isn't mine, that I credit it in the description of the photo - this is so I don't get sued in any way. the main legal issue with making a photography portfolio website, is the data protection act which means I will need to get any models in my photos consent to put these images online for anyone to see. a consent form will get their consent for all uses of the images and will protect me from getting sued if they suddenly change their mind.

Ethical
as with one section of my website has photos from a climate strike I will make sure their isn't any libel of anyone in them, as that person might see the image and sue me, so by checking it means I wont be sued. and the last ethical issue I will make sure to cover is that the models in my images are a mix of genders, ages, sexualities and races. this is to make sure no one feels left out in any way and so my work is inclusive to all people.

LO2: Produce a plan for the creation of the interactive media product from the generated ideas

Wireframes

This is the main home page for my website, this will be what you see when you first go onto the website and also what you see when you click the 'KF' up at the top of the screen. On this page their will be the layout for the whole other pages, but their will also be a large image which will be the main feature on the screen, that will regularly be moving a lot to showcase different photos I really like. Their will be a lot of different colours on this page because I want the website to look creative and colourful, the different titles will be coloured differently.

This is the "About" page that will give a detailed description of myself for the audience to read to get to know the person behind the images. This page will have a photo of me in a border, this is so they can see what I look like - the reason for the border is to make it look less random on the page. This page will also have my social media accounts attached to it, so if people are interested in seeing more about me they can. Their won't be too much on this page because I haven't actually done much yet. The title 'About' will light up when it is selected, with one of my few colours - which will be different from the others.

This is the 'Portfolio' page that will have a bunch of different locations that lead to other pages filled with the photos from that location. Their will be a main image that represents the location, and then also a title of each place. All the images will have a border around them, all different colours. At the top of the page on all pages on the website, their will be a rainbow of colours - of all my chosen ones.

This is the page that will come up when you click on the location, a page full of my photos. When you click on the photo it will give a brief description/ information of the image and it will be personal to each image. Their will be a title on this page thats bold and colourful to make it stand out so you know where it is. Again all images will have borders around them.

This page will one day be full of client work, at the moment their isn't any - so it will be empty. It will have a brief explanation of why its empty - and maybe even an animation of three dots loading, to show its in progress and will hopefully be coming. This page will hopefully be updated at a later date.

This is the final page of my website, the 'Contact me' page where hopefully clients will contact me for them to become a customer maybe in the future or to just contact to have a chat or ask questions. On this page their will be my personal information like website name, phone number and email address, these are their so they can directly contact me. Their will also be my social media links incase they just want to see who I am, or keep up to date on what I am doing.

Proposal -  Photography Portfolio Website

The purpose of the interactive media product:
The purpose of the website I will be making is to showcase my photography work in one place, to be able to put my work out there for people to see it and have someplace where I can keep my portfolio updated, and hopefully get some interest from people who like my photography.

The subject of the interactive product:
On my website I will include an about me page where I will give a brief description of my background with photography, I will also be putting my portfolio photos on different pages splitting the photos up into different categories of photography techniques from different cities. On my pages I plan to add a simple design with adding the same colour scheme onto my pages to make the pages look more detailed and put together.

The style chosen to work in:
The style I plan to do is going to be simple, but I plan for it to be modern and give a bit of edge to my work. I plan to use a range of pastel colours to make my website stand out and look a bit different compared to other photography blogs that there is out there.

The platform the product will be created for:
People will mainly access my website on the web when looking for other photographers for rather research or inspiration. My photography Instagram will have a link to the website on it so hopefully people will be able to find it on there.

The organisation/people:
The target audience for my website is people who have a love photography, and potential clients that want to work with me – they will be able to look at my online portfolio to see.
A brief summary of the product’s interactive features:
The main interactive features of my website will be images that have text on that when you click on the image boxes, they take you to the page of a different city with three different photography techniques on it.

Production Schedule

This is a production schedule, having all the tasks I need to do planned out so I know what I need to do each week - so I'm still organised and not behind schedule.

Test Plan

This is my half finished test plan, it will be fully filled out when I start coding.
